Inside: Discover these 8 pregnancy essentials to stay comfortable during your entire pregnancy
It’s pretty well known that when you get pregnant, at some point, you’ll be uncomfortable.
Be it the pressure on your joints, smashed organs from your growing baby, morning sickness, itchy skin, and more, there are lots of things that can cause you discomfort during your pregnancy.
But there are some pregnancy essentials that can help relieve discomfort so you can enjoy your pregnancy!
When I was pregnant with my kids, I tried lots of things to stay comfortable throughout each pregnancy.
Having been through this twice, I discovered a few pregnancy essentials that were really worth the money, (some you probably didn’t even know you needed!) because I used them throughout both of my pregnancies and they improved my overall experience.

Here’s my list of pregnancy essentials to keep you comfortable!
These were AMAZING! You can slap it over your jeans when they first start becoming too tight.
You unbutton and/or unzip your jeans and place the band over your jeans. That way everything lays flat and you can’t tell from the outside that your pants are undone. The band helps keep your pants in place too.
Bellabands are nice because they can save you from getting maternity clothes for awhile.
The only problem is as you get further along, it can start to roll and cause a bulge under your shirts. I took that as a sign that it was time to get maternity pants…
These can be a lifesaver when you’re trying to sleep and you just can’t get comfortable!
I used to roll from side to side trying to get comfortable, sticking pillows in between my knees, which inevitably would fall out or get an indent because they were soft pillows, (which defeated the point!). I also hated that I could only sleep on my sides.
When you only have two options to sleep for nearly months, it can get frustrating!
Pregnancy pillows cradle your whole body and help to take the weight off of your knees because you can stick the pillow in between your legs and they don’t move!
Overall they can aid in sleeping more comfortably, (even if you can only sleep in two positions!).
You may be like why would I need these if I’m pregnant??
Well, as I found out when I was 20 weeks pregnant with my first child, your boobs can leak milk while pregnant!
I didn’t leak all the time, but when I did leak it was not comfortable to have a damp bra. So I got some disposable nursing pads for the occasions I did leak.
You want a good moisturizing cream to put on your belly.
Lots of women like cocoa butter or a cream with shea butter in it for its moisturizing properties.
Some people say it can prevent stretch marks, (I personally think it’s not about the cream you use, it’s more your genetics/luck if you don’t end up with stretch marks).
But one thing that can happen is your skin gets dry and itchy because it gets thinner as your belly gets bigger. Scratching your belly all the time can irritate the delicate skin so a good cream can keep your belly skin hydrated.
Maternity clothes and maternity underwear
Lots of women try to stay in their regular clothes for as long as possible, (I sure did!) but you’ll likely eventually need some type of maternity clothes or underwear.
The key is that the clothes and underwear are comfortable and fit well.
What I love about maternity clothes is they are built to fit no matter how your body changes!
I got a few maternity shirts when I was pregnant with my first baby and they fit and were comfy.
With my second pregnancy my belly shape was different, it stuck straight out. I was sure the maternity shirts I bought wouldn’t fit, but low and behold, they did!
That was a nice money saver!
Exercise is generally a good idea for pregnant women, (but you’ll want to talk about it with your healthcare provider to be sure).
You don’t even have to do a strenuous workout!
Walking is an amazing low key pregnancy workout. Walking can keep you active, and helps towards an overall healthy pregnancy.
But the gym shoes you had pre-pregnancy may not be the best choice anymore.
When you’re pregnant your feet can get bigger. Also you may be putting pressure on different parts of your feet because you’re carrying weight differently.
You’ll definitely want to get some comfy gym shoes! I walked a lot during both of my pregnancies and these are my top choice!
This was also one of the best purchases I made while pregnant!
I tried to wear regular leggings when I got into my third trimester but the regular band would be too tight on my preggo tummy so it left an indent. It hurt and I was not a fan…so I bought maternity leggings and they were wonderful!
The band went all the way up my tummy so your shirts fit over them without there being a noticeable line and no horrid indent that hurts like hell!
I lived in these for the last couple months of my pregnancies!
Tums
Lots of women experience heartburn or indigestion throughout their pregnancy.
I didn’t really have heartburn or indigestion, but I’ve had friends who swear by Tums! They said it helped ease the heartburn quickly and kept it away for awhile.
So if you are having a hard time with this pregnancy symptom, grab some Tums!
If you don’t know already, your ta-ta’s will probably change throughout pregnancy, (and after birth!).
You can buy some maternity bras to accommodate your changing breast size. You could opt for a regular bra with a larger size, but maternity bras are built for comfort.
Many of them are stretchy to accommodate your changing size, but they also have support to accommodate your breasts becoming heavier as they fill with milk.
Many maternity bras can double as nursing bras after baby gets here, which is one less thing you’ll have to buy. They can also comfortably fit a nursing pad in them should you need them for leakage, (pre or post baby!).
I know I said there were 8 essentials, but I couldn’t resist adding this in…
Subscription boxes are all the rage, for a good reason! Most of us don’t take the time to do anything special for ourselves. But it’s easy to pamper yourself when you get a subscription box.
These Bump Boxes are tailored to your due date and send you items you can spoil yourself with throughout your pregnancy!
Now I didn’t know subscription boxes were a thing when I was pregnant, but if I had, I certainly would have gotten it! (I get a subscription box now aimed for moms/women). I love the element of surprise and sometimes you end up with items you didn’t even know you needed!
Check them out now and see how your Bump Boxes can keep you comfortable and pampered throughout your pregnancy!
Conclusion
Although most women have some kind of discomfort during pregnancy, it doesn’t have to be uncomfortable all the time! There are plenty of products out there that can help ease your aches, pains, and changing body. These are my top choices for pregnancy essentials to keep you comfortable and happier, that I used and loved throughout both of my pregnancies!
