Inside: Diverse multicultural princess books and dolls you can add to your child’s collection!
Princesses can get a bad rap. Many people think they are only frail, pretty young girls who talk to animals, and need to be saved by a prince. I can definitely see that as a lot of the old school Disney movies give that impression.
I’ve met many people with daughters and they try to steer them away from watching princess movies or avoid the princess phase altogether because they don’t believe they are good role-models.
My daughter happens to be a princess loving little girl. And instead of trying to steer her away from something she loves I wanted to encourage her love of princesses by discussing the positive traits a princess has and exposing her to diverse princesses.
Princesses can be great role-models! We often talk about how kind, strong, brave, or smart they are.
Also since my daughter is biracial it’s important for her to have multicultural princess books and dolls so she can not only be exposed to princesses whose traits she likes, but also princesses she can identify with.
