Inside: If you have a daughter with curly hair, read her these books for girls with curly hair so she can celebrate and love her curls
If you’ve got a curly haired cutie, you need some children’s books for girls with curly hair that celebrate that beautiful, curly hair!
This list of books is great for kids with curls of all kinds, but I wanted to specifically discuss mixed curly hair since that’s what my kids have 🙂
Girls with biracial curly hair, (and boys if they have longer hair) will very likely feel their hair looks different based on how others react to their hair. I’ve seen this many times with my own kids.
I am not surprised if family or friends ooh and aah over their hair, (it is beautiful so I get it) but strangers will comment on the texture, ask if it’s hard to take care of, and things of that nature.
Understanding how to take care of your mixed girls curly hair is also crucial to helping them love their hair.
However, even if people are complimenting your daughter’s hair, it points out to her that her hair is different.
And I’m sure you remember how you felt as a kid if you felt different in some way! You probably didn’t want anyone to find any reason to pick on you, and you don’t want to feel different from your friends or family, (I know I didn’t!).
I’m a huge advocate for reading to kids for so many reasons.
In this case, reading books for girls with curly hair helps your little girl accept their wondrous curls and also to see that it’s normal for curls to come in many different types and textures.
Some girls may feel like the type of curly hair they have isn’t as beautiful as other hair. But you can put that myth to rest with awesome stories like these!
